Safeguarding

Nothing is more important than children’s welfare.

Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, stable, and loving home. Children who need help and protection deserve high-quality and effective support. This requires individuals, agencies, and organisations to be clear about their own and each other’s roles and responsibilities, and how they work together.

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families and carers has a role to play in safeguarding children. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all professionals should make sure their approach is child-centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.

All our staff are trained in safeguarding and are responsible for looking after all our pupils.

All staff have read Keeping Children Safe in Education 2024

We also comply with Working Together to Safeguard Children

We follow guidance to schools on our duty regarding the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 and our work with children, having due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism. This guidance is available in Prevent Duty

If you have any concerns about a child, no matter how small, please contact one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads via email, by coming into school or by calling 01423 508552

Operation Encompass

As a school, we work with the organisation Operation Encompass, which was created to support children experiencing domestic abuse. This partnership enables the timely sharing of information directly between the police and schools.

We have ensured that a member of our staff, (Designated Safeguarding Lead) known as a Key Adult, has been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care.

The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 identifies children who experience domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right.

We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved.

Please contact the DSL (Headteacher Jo Hall) or one of the Deputy DSLs (Deputy Headteacher, Judith Hollywood or Assistant Headteacher, Catherine Linfoot) if you have any questions or concerns.
