Discovery Learning is a very special part of Saltergate. When our very youngest pupils first come along to school, we want them to feel safe, secure and happy. Initial visits take place with parents and carers present to ensure that children feel comfortable. Our youngest pupils can enjoy exploring the exciting environment indoors and outdoors, getting to know staff and their peers.
We have created a natural, calm setting, where open-ended learning opportunities are presented across the curriculum.
Children's natural curiosity and interest is sparked by carefully planned and prepared resources and activities. Our staff are on hand to scaffold the learning, develop language and vocabulary, and to ensure that everyone has fun!
Children soon build close relationships with their key people and hurry in each day, keen to discover new and exciting learning. They demonstrate great enthusiasm and energy and are always busy and purposeful.

Your First Days
If you are joining us in Discovery Learning, please be assured of a warm welcome!
We have new students joining Discovery Learning at Saltergate each term and once your child's place is confirmed, Admissions forms are completed and the Parental Funding Agreement is signed, we will be in touch to discuss settling in sessions.
We aim to welcome your child for a half-day session initially. We will then work with you to plan any further settling in sessions.
