SEND

It is very important to us at Saltergate that we support all our pupils.

We want all our children to feel valued and supported and to achieve their full potential. Throughout their time at Saltergate, some pupils will need some short-term support, whilst others may have a specific need identified which requires a longer-term support plan.

Our SEND policy and practice aims to establish an inclusive framework for effective provision for our children at Saltergate.

SEND and Inclusion Policy

Early intervention can make all the difference to children and so our staff identify SEND as soon as possible, working with you and with our SENDCO to implement the appropriate steps of support.

Through carefully targeted support and nurture we aim to ensure that all children have an equal opportunity to participate in the curriculum, according to their individual needs. Class teachers are skilled in using quality first teaching to include all children in the class learning and a graduated approach is used to ensure that all children’s needs are met. Additional support may be provided by our team of skilled teaching assistants and we have strong and well-established relationships with other agencies, drawing on their expertise and advice as much as possible. All of this work is carried out in discussion with parents, and with continued support, advice and input from our SENDCO.
