Lunchtimes and Snack times
Lunch
Children may either have school lunches or bring a packed lunch. All children eat in the school hall together in two sittings.
All children in Reception, Year one and Year two are entitled to a free school meal each day. As the children progress up to year 3 meals are chargeable at £3.20 per day or £16 per week. Meals can be paid for via ParentPay. You will need a log-in which can be obtained from the school office.
During lunchtimes, Reception-Year 2 children are served their dinner by a grown up. Year 3-year 6 will choose and collect their food themselves from the servery with assistance from the Catering Staff and Midday Supervisory Assistants.
All children have the opportunity to join in with ‘special meals’ such as Christmas dinner and Easter lunch.
If you think your child is entitled to Free School Meals, please click here to visit the application form.
Dietary Requirements
If your child has any dietary requirements, please see the school office and they will arrange a meeting with the school cook to discuss your needs.
Snacks, Fruit and Milk in School
A carton of milk is available for all children until the child's 5th birthday, this is free of charge to you as a parent. Once the child is 5 years old, milk is available to purchase for a small fee payable at the beginning of each term through Cool Milk. Please see the page Cool Milk | Saltergate Schools for more information.
Fruit is also available at snack times for all Reception to Year 2 students.
For KS2 students, children are encouraged to have a healthy snack and drink. They may bring these items from home, or we provide a 'tuck shop' in each classroom during morning break. For 25p the children can purchase a variety of healthy snacks such as breadsticks, cereal bars, rice cakes etc.
These are invoiced weekly on ParentPay.
