The School Day

School Hours


Morning:8.50 am to 12 noon
Afternoon: 1.00 pm to 3.25 pm



Morning:9.05 am to 11.45/12 noon

1.00 pm to 3.15 pm



Morning:8.50 am to 11.40 pm
Afternoon: 12.30 pm to 3.20 pm



If your child is absent from school for any reason, please inform school by telephone straight away. The school staff will have to contact you if we have not heard from you about absence from school.

This may be by phone or text. 


Holidays during term time will be counted as unauthorised absence unless there are exceptional circumstances. Holiday forms can be obtained from the school office.

Safety Before and After School

children will be welcomed into school at the appropriate start time. We cannot accept responsibility for children before the start of school.


 Parking is not permitted on the yellow lines or in the staff car park


Morning Break and Lunchtime Arrangements

We promote a healthy eating break! Daily fruit and vegetables are free in Gateways, Nursery and infant school. In juniors, fruit and vegetables healthy snacks are on sale at 25p.

School Meals cost £2.60 per day (£15.00 per week). Payment can be made online at, or by cash or cheque on a Monday morning in a named wallet, purse or envelope. 

Packed lunches may be brought in a lunch box.

After School Activities

We have after school activities which are free of charge.  School sports teams compete in local tournaments.


What our children will experience every day

At the Saltergate Schools, we encourage a creative, flexible and enriched curriculum which meets the interests, needs and preferences of every child. This means that routines, structures and approaches will sometimes vary.
