All our children in Key Stage One took part in a an exciting art focused 'Curriculum Day' all about Henri Matisse. They all had lots of fun working with different teachers in different areas around our school. They learnt lots of interesting facts about his life and were fascinated to find out that he became inspired to paint after being given a painting set whilst he was recovering from an operation when he was twenty years old. Our children also made colourful abstract pictures using Matisse's style. In the hall, they imagined dancing into one of Matisse's paintings, then choreographed and performed some amazing dances using different levels and pathways. In our outdoor area, they also imagined jumping into one of his painting and took part in hotseating and freeze framing activities. They then worked together to tell exciting stories and then acted them out. They all had such a busy and interesting day.
Look what an exciting and interesting day we had!
