During World Book Week, we had lots of fun doing lots of learning linked to the story Giraffes Can't Dance. We started off the week with an exciting Together Time with Mrs Burgess. Then we read the story and acted it out together. During our dance lesson we danced using all the different dance styles in the story. We particularly enjoyed the dramatic tango and the groovy rock and roll.
The following day we used the drama techniques of hot seating and freeze framing and then we wrote fantastic character profiles for Gerald the giraffe. Some of us even used expanded noun phrases and similes too!
On Wednesday, we had lots of fun during our music lesson. we composed music for all the different dances in the story. Then, when we were happy with our compositions, we danced to the music in the classroom.
On Thursday we wote our own versions of the story, which were amazing. We also made some moving pictures using our favourite setting from the story and a giraffe puppet.
We finished off the week by researching and writing lots of interesting facts about a giraffe. Our teachers were so proud of us. We had such a fantastic week of learning.
