Year 4 were set the challenge of helping Mr Baranyai prepare for his upcoming cycling race by creating a performance programme for him to follow.
We first used our data handling skills to interpret his cycling data over the year and identify any differences. For example, Rowling class noticed that Mr Baranyai was much slower in January than in July.
Next, we needed to reason as to why Mr Baranyai’s performance may have changed. For example, he might have been slower in January because of the weather causing the roads to be icy.
Using our reasoning, we then created a performance programme. For example, Mr Baranyai needs to plan ahead and check the weather before cycling. Each group presented their plan to the class and we peer assessed each other’s work.
