Discovery Learning

Thank you so much for choosing to be part of Discovery Learning at Saltergate School in September. ​​My name is Mrs Gemma Skurr, and I am the lead teacher of Discovery Learning.  ​​We are really excited about starting this special learning journey with you.​

Please find below a booklet to look through with your child and a presentation for you as a parent/carer.

Your First Days

If you are joining us, we are really looking forward to your child joining Discovery Learning.

We have new students joining Discovery Learning at Saltergate each term and once your child's place is confirmed, Admissions forms are completed and the Parental Funding Agreement is signed, we will be in touch to discuss settling in sessions.

We aim to welcome your child in for only a half day on their first day. We will then chat with you to decide how to go forward, if more settling in sessions are needed.

Sessions

One session is £12.50, a full day is £25. 

Funded places

Parents of children may be able to apply for 15 funded hours for 2 year old if they are on benefits and/or meet the criteria set out by the DfE - Early years funding for 2 year olds | North Yorkshire Council

From April 2024, working parents can apply for 15 hours childcare for 2 year olds (Working Family 2YO Funding) as well as 30 hours childcare for 3 year olds - Apply for free childcare if you're working - 2 and 3 yr olds. Every child is entitled to 15 free hours of care from the term after their 3rd birthday.
